Meet Jenn: The Mom of 18
You and I met. It could have been through my podcast, running, my blog, my website, a past job, the kid’s school, in person, or a myriad of other ways. What I do know is that at some point, you and I exchanged information and for that, I’m so thankful.
Allow me to re-introduce myself. It’s me. Jenn Taylor, Mom Of 18. Yes, that’s 18 kids I claim from biology, adoption, 12 years of foster care, step-kids, and even a foreign exchange student. No matter how they came to be part of my family, I love them all the same. It’s been a crazy, fun, tough adventure that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Over three years ago, my time in foster care — being a parent and training parents — ended. When that chapter closed, it was time to begin anew. With some incredible support at home, I wrote a book that had been living inside of me. Hello, My Name Is… Warrior Princess is a self-help memoir and was published in August 2016 and I’m so proud of that accomplishment!
That same summer, I launched my website, Mom Of 18. This is the place that houses everything. Information about my coaching and speaking, learning more about me and the family, and my book information. A year later, in May 2017, I launched my podcast — The Naked Podcaster — that allows other people’s stories to be heard, and that was added to the website. Then I launched my YouTube Channel and that was incorporated in the mix.
It made sense to move my blog — Mom’s Running It — that was born in October 2011 — to the new site to keep everything in one place, and early in 2019, I hired WordPress to port it to a static page. I hadn’t been able to login to it for about a year, so when I recovered over 900 blog posts, I wanted to make sure it was a more streamlined system.
Long story short, that decision completely destroyed my website and I had to start over. As I looked at the rubble of years of hard work and efforts, I knew it was a very first world problem, but I cried anyway. That’s when I decided — after months of not being able to use my website — to hire someone to put the pieces back together for me. I’m back at writing — the blog but also book #2 — I’m trying to be more consistent at video content, I release a podcast interview weekly on Tuesdays at 6 am, I’m still out there running all over Reno, NV, minimalism has been a huge part of our lives for 4 1/2 years now (yes, I still want to live in an RV).
I’m still speaking and coaching, and I would say I’m more comfortable stepping into who I am now more than ever. If you’ve read this far, it’s a long explanation of what’s been happening for over 3 years, and why you’re receiving an email from me. I hope you stick around and even more, I want to get to know you. If you decide to leave, I understand but I would love for our paths to cross again. With gratitude (and still a dork!), Jenn
